WHO TYPICALLY WEARS COMPRESSION LEG SLEEVES?
A Compression leg sleeve is often worn by those who are active in rigorous sports activities to help prevent and manage fatigued legs, swollen legs and shin splints. They also aid in muscle recovery, and provide comfort to the calf using a firm compression. This calf/shin Recovery Sleeve is typically made with gradient compression which provides latex free wide ribbing in the front for shin support and tight ribbing in the back for calf support.
While there are a few popular compression leg sleeve brands to choose from, Zensah, who manufactures all over the world including the U.S., is one of the better on the market. Zensah originally developed compression shirts for the IDF (Israeli Defense Forces) and later expanded into the commercial/athletic apparel market. They make a variety of compression garments including arm and leg sleeves, compression shirts, compression shorts, compression socks (over the calf and crew), and compression skull caps. Their compression leg sleeve is perfect for calfs and shin splints. It is neoprene and latex free, both of which can cause the skin and muscles to overheat, and in some cases, rashes and blistering. The sleeve is made with Zensah Fabric that helps to regulate skin temperature and fight bacteria. The sleeves can be worn during training or for recovery to increase oxygen blood flow to the muscles of the lower leg. The more oxygen the muscles receive the faster they recover. The Zensah calf/shin sleeve is not only ideal for runners or cyclists, but anyone else who spends a great deal of time on their feet. The sleeves can be worn during training, recovery or for traveling.
Zensah Compression Leg Sleeves are made using seamless technology that are designed with 360 degree ribbing to give an equal gradient compression around the calf and shin. Zensah has developed recovery leg sleeves using a special knitting process and their stretchy fabric composition. From the Zensah site: “The Calf/Shin recovery sleeves are made with gradient compression which provides wide ribbing in the front for shin support, and tight ribbing in the back for calf support. The sleeves are made with Zensah Fabric® which has silver helping regulate skin temperature, and fight bacteria. The sleeves can be worn during training to increase oxygen blood flow to the muscles of the lower leg. The more oxygen the muscles receive the faster they recover allowing athletes to push the envelope in their training. The Zensah Calf/Shin sleeves are unique in that they provide pin point compression to the front and back of the leg. The dual action support was developed by a professional athletic trainer.”
With regard to Zensah compression socks, interestingly enough, they are marked Left and Right, they have assymetrical panels to provide more support in the arch, where it’s needed, and they are imbued with silver ions in the fiber to combat odor. They’re well padded in all the key areas – heels, toes, top of the foot and on the achilles tendon and shin.
Zensah compression leg sleeves are available in various colors and are available for both men and women.
