Where to find the best prices
Because there are so many diabetic socksbrand names to choose from price comparisons can vary considerably from retailer to retailer, distributor to distributor.
This is especially true of brands being sold online where prices range from $2 to $8.
While I have purchased several pairs of socks for diabetics online, I have also purchased Dr.Scholls at Walmart and in comparison, the former was the cheapest and poorest made.
Compression socks prices run from $10 to $27, again depending on the brand name. Both gradient and non-gradient compression stockings range in price from $35-75 based on their compression levels and whether or not they are custom-fitted (over-the-counter) or custom-made (prescriptive) the latter of which can run upwards to $350.
Personally I recommend staying with reputable brand names as they all apply universal industry standards (design, construction and materials), particularly those made in Western cultures, e.g., Germany, U.S., Switzerland, and Canada.
Diabetic socks and compression garments that are made in China and a few third-world countries, though lesser priced, are cheaply made and will not hold up to wear and tear.
Having said that, China, being aware of the global perception that their products are cheaply made, is working hard to get rid of that stigma.
Amazon.com not only sells the better Western made brands of diabetic socks and compression stockings, they also provide a place for consumers to review the products purchased by others so that you can get an idea of how well they stand up to daily wear and tear as well as how they are priced.
Google price comparison site is also an excellent source; they list the exact item you are looking for and the companies that sell them which you can then sort by price rank – cheapest to most expensive.
With that tool, do your research read the reviews and then make your purchase from Amazon.com as they are by far your best bet.
Regardless of the online source you choose, avoid those diabetic socks and compression stockings that have a very low customer satisfaction rank as I can assure you that such reviews are based on real experiences.
Also, always look for name brands that offer a money back guarantee in case what you’ve ordered does not fit your needs.
