Best Diabetic Sock Brands

Like any sock, whether traditional, casual, or dress, price generally determines quality. That’s not a rule set in cement, but from my experience, you get what you pay for. Having said that, if you are making your first diabetic sock purchase, I recommend that you purchase two or three to start out with. While all support socks for diabetics manufacturers claim to make the best, it’s always a good idea to buy only a few (a three-pack), try them out, and if they give you the desired comfort and durability, then you you can order more.
Based on my experience with purchasing diabetic support socks for my father-in-law*, I know what to look for and what to avoid. I can recommend Ames Walker, but only because they make wide-fit diabetic socks. Other companies make a wide-fit as well, but I just happen to find them first and have stayed with the brand ever since. I have found that all online diabetic sock brands offer product images and descriptions and that the distinctions between them all (e.g. price, materials, available colors, styles) are relatively few.
With regard to cost, most diabetic socks are reasonably priced (this is subjective I know), however, spending a little more will assure you that you’re getting comfort, protection, and durability. Most companies drop ship to your front door and make sure that they offer a money back guarantee if you are not completely satisfied. Also most online companies sell not only diabetic socks, but other types of foot and leg support socks and hosiery (e.g. compression hose, and compression socks.
Here is my list of the best diabetic socks manufacturers:
- sugarfreesox
- Therawear
- SilberSchutz (nano-silver impregnated socks)
- Jobst
- Elliesox
- AmesWalker
- Juzo
- Sigvaris
- MediVen
- Allegro
- Activa
- Futuro
- SmartKnit
- AbsoluteSupport
- Sensifoot
- Footsmart
- Truform
- Socks4Life (Diabetic support socks for the entire family)
- worldssoftest
- drscholls
*Author’s note: While I write about diabetic socks and other foot and leg garments, I don’t wear any of them, but, I do purchase diabetic socks for my 92 year old father-in-law and I am involved in helping him make choices with regard to compression hose, shoes, and other diabetic accoutrements.
